The benefit of Ageless Environments™ is single source responsibility. We offer a complementary consultation in your home to meet you and discuss potential home modification ideas. Our goal is to provide you with well designed solutions that create places for you to thrive. Our design-oriented solutions will seamlessly blend your lifestyle desires with your need for functional living as you continue to age in place in the home you love.
As designers we look for opportunities to enhance your lifestyle. This is what separates Ageless Environments from other Aging-in-Place companies. You may have substantial equity in your home. Investing in a major renovation may be a wise use of that money. Many older homes have outdated kitchens or bathrooms that can become dangerous as your abilities change. The benefit to these types of remodels is that you gain the immediate enjoyment of living everyday in a home that has been personalized for you and the comfort of knowing you’ve prepared for the future. Properly done, the modifications may also add significant value to your home.
Major Renovation — Multi-Generational Solutions
The children of aging parents are often faced with how to best care for their parents. Consider the potential of adding a Guest Suite to your existing property. We can provide you with a conceptual floor plan and meet with the city to discuss this potential option. Perhaps repurposing existing space will be the best solution for you and your parents. Even updating a living or family room can greatly enhance the enjoyment of the home for everyone. We know that privacy is important to all concerned when creating a multi-generational living situation and we will work with you and your parents to ensure everyone’s needs are addressed.
There are two general times when a minor renovation seems appropriate. 1) When the home has become unusable to you. 2) When an unexpected event such as an accident or illness occurs that changes a person’s living requirements.
In a minor renovation, Ageless Environments can focus on just the basics that will allow you to remain in your home: roll-in showers, grab bars, lever door handles, widened doorways and roll-under vanities are just a few examples of simple modifications that can be made beautifully and seamlessly to facilitate functionality without sacrificing the look of the home.
This valuable service combines an in depth analysis of your current and/or future needs and provides you with a sort of road map for you to follow as you age in place. The assessment is your guide to suggested modifications that can be made to your home both now and in the future to make it safer, easier to use and more energy efficient.
The number one reason people can no longer stay in their homes is due to falls. In many cases this can be prevented by removing trip hazards from the home. The analysis will also include suggestions for incorporating Universal Design features into all areas of your home. Universal Design is the concept of designing products and the built environment to be aesthetic and usable to the greatest extent possible by everyone, regardless of their age, ability, or status in life. We will include an energy analysis to determine if replacing your existing windows, doors and insulation with higher efficiency models makes financial sense. The cost of these types of modifications quite often qualifies for rebates from your local gas or electric company. The final cost may have a pay back of fewer than 7 years and you will get the immediate enjoyment of a more comfortable home with the peace of mind of knowing that your money has been well spent.
The fee for this customized assessment is $1,500. If you decide to implement any suggested modifications within one year, we will apply a portion of the assessment fee against the cost of the design services.
